More WEBTOON Recs!

Because escapism!

Greetings! In the name of escapism and storytelling, I present three more comics you can read on WEBTOON to wile away the hours and get your head out of your head. Without further ado…

The Witch and The Bull by Moonsia
fantasy – 33/33 episodes read

Aro is a beautiful and talented witch with a secret. Tan is the royal advisor to the human king, and he hates witches. Now that the war is over, King Deo seeks to unite his entire kingdom, magical and mortal alike. They’re going to have their work cut out for them, and not just because there’s a figure working against them in the shadows. Themes include magic, astrology, betrayal, friendship, war, and shifting perspectives. If any of that intrigues you, or you simply appreciate rich, warm artwork, download the WEBTOON app and get this comic into your life.

The Remarried Empress by Alphatart and Sumpul
fantasy – 24/24 episodes read

My cousin recommended this to me emphasizing the beauty of the dresses as reason enough to read. That’s facts. Empress Navier can work a dress, but she is far more than a stately wardrobe. Navier Ellie Trovi had dreamed of becoming empress since childhood. She knew she had been selected to wed her childhood friend , The Crown Prince Sovieshu, and they spent countless hours of their youth joyfully planning their empire. Sounds like a charmed life, doesn’t it? If romantic tension, opulent clothing and scenery, shapeshifters, secrets, and one woman’s determination to maintain the life she’s built are of any interest to you, check out The Remarried Empress today.

Super Secret by eon
romance – 20/143 episodes read

This is the comic I recommended back to my cousin, citing the adorable art style as one of many reasons to read. Ryan and Emma have been close friends since they were wee ickle beans and he’s always been protective of her. It’s a quirky dynamic but it works for them, until Emma gets a boyfriend. Now things are all out of whack and Ryan will have to confront some truths about himself if he’s going to get close to normal, and Emma, ever again. Do friendship, family dynamics, an array of magical folk, romantic tension, and perhaps tribal rivalry between wolves pique your interests? Darn right, they do. Check out Super Secret!

Freaking Romance by Snailords
romance – 75/77 episodes read

“Wait, this is a fourth comic. I was told there would only be three comics.” Good lookin’ out, dear reader! This right here is one of them honorable mentions. You may have noticed that I already recommended Freaking Romance once, but I hadn’t gotten past the first episode. 75 episodes later, I just wanted to reaffirm that I do indeed recommend this comic. I came for the supernatural allure, and I stayed for the cliffhangers and devastating romantic and inter-dimensional tension. It has not been an easy life, but it has swiftly become an unbelievable one for Zylith. Will she get to have her cake and eat it too? Maybe. Get used to dangling off the edge of your unanswered yearnings when you read this one. It’s well worth the butterflies and secondhand angst.

Remember, folks, this recommendation thing needn’t be a one-way street. Hit me up in the comments below, on Instagram, or Twitter. What comics have been lighting up your life this year?
